Labelle Assigned, Brown Recalled
November 23, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC The South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Eric Labelle has been assigned to the Stingrays by the Hershey Bears and Mike Brown has been recalled by the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Labelle is expected to be in the line up tonight for the Stingrays when the team hosts the Charlotte Checkers. Brown's call up makes room for Goaltender Davis Parley, who was acquired by the Stingrays for Joel Irving yesterday.
Labelle played last season for the Rockford IceHogs of the UHL and Milwaukee and Utah in the AHL. In 67 games with the IceHogs, Labelle had ten goals seven assists and 390 penalty minutes. He has not played for Hershey yet this season.
"We are excited to get some new blood into our lineup and hopefully get a spark," commented Fitzsimmons. "Eric brings good size and experience to the game. Hopefully he can help us tonight."
Labelle spent two seasons with the Columbia Inferno from 2002-2004 and had more than 250 penalty minutes in each season.
Mike Brown likely finishes his Stingrays career with a record of 0-1-2 and a GAA of 4.79.
The Stingrays will play four out of their next five games at home, beginning tonight against the Charlotte Checkers. The Rays will also play at home on Friday night against Gwinnett and Sunday afternoon at 3:00 against Florida. A variety of season ticket and group ticket packages are still available.
