Johnstown Chiefs News Release
(Johnstown, PA) The Johnstown Chiefs broke through to the win column on Friday and Saturday. Now, two Chiefs performances have been recognized by the ECHL.
Center Justin Kelly, 24, who scored three goals and three assists in two games last weekend, was named runner up for the ECHL Player of the Week. Kelly has eight points, including four goals, in five games with the Chiefs. His offensive outburst helped propel the Chiefs to back-to-back wins. Kelly averaged more than a point per game last season for the UHL's Adirondack Frostbite.
Chiefs Goalie, Jonathan Boutin, 20, earned runner-up honors for ECHL Goaltender of the Week. Boutin sticked aside 29 of 30 on Friday, as the Chiefs beat South Carolina, 4-1. The win was the Chiefs first win of the season. Boutin was returned to the Chiefs last Thursday, from Springfield of the AHL, where Boutin's save percentage was .945. For the season, Boutin's Goals Against Average in four games with the Chiefs is 2.74, with a .924 save percentage.
Stephen Shays of Reading won the Player of the week with four goals and one assist. Chris Beckford-Tseu of Alaska won the Goalie of the Week award, going 2-0 with a .959 save percentage.
The Chiefs season, presented by First National Bank, continues Wednesday in Trenton, at home Friday against Trenton, and in Wheeling, Saturday. The Chiefs will then play six games in eight days during their West Coast swing, which begins Tuesday in Las Vegas. Tickets for the Chiefs home game, Friday, versus Trenton are available by calling 1-800-Slapshot. All games can be heard on The Chiefs Radio Network, (850-AM & 990-AM), and on the B2Networks.com.....
