Kurz And Howard Named To 2009-10 NBA D-League All-Star Game
February 2, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Indiana Mad Ants News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN (February 2nd, 2009)- Mad Ants forward Rob Kurz and Mad Ants guard Ron Howard have been named to the 2009-2010 NBA D-League All Star Game. The game will be played in Dallas on Saturday, February 13, at 3 pm EST and can be seen live on NBA TV.
Kurz is in his first season with the Mad Ants after playing last season for the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. A renowned shooter from distance, he has made a huge impact on the Mad Ants both in scoring and rebounding. Kurz currently is second on the team in scoring average with 18.4 points per game, and is second in the NBA D-League in rebounds per game with 10.9. He also currently stands third in the league in double-doubles with 13 for the season.
This is Howard's first All Star game appearance, and it is a well-deserved honor for the one time open tryout participant. Howard leads the team and is currently sixth in the NBA D-League in scoring at 22.4 points per game. He has improved his game in each year with the Mad Ants, and he has dramatically improved his three point shooting this season. Howard - who failed to make a three pointer in his first two years - has made 33 three pointers this season and is currently shooting a torrid 44 percent from distance.
Kurz and Howard are the fourth and fifth players in Mad Ants history to be named to the NBA D-League All Star Team. In the team's inaugural year, Jeremy Richardson was named to the team and eventually was named the All Star game's MVP. Last season, Walker Russell, Jr. and Chris Hunter were both named to the team.
Both players will play a final home game at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on February 9th against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers before heading to Dallas to join their fellow honorees.
