Vancouver Giants News Release
Portland, OR - Ryan Kubic stopped all 34 shots that he faced for his first WHL win and shutout as the Vancouver Giants blanked the Portland Winterhawks 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Chase Lang and Tyler Benson scored the Vancouver goals.
The Giants outshot the Winterhawks 14-10 in the first period, but the game remained scoreless until the start of the middle frame when Lang scored from in tight just 27 seconds into the stanza to give Vancouver the lead. Later in the frame, Kubic came up big, denying Winterhawks defenseman Caleb Jones on a great chance from in tight.
Benson extended Vancouver's advantage in the third period, scoring on a big rebound after a shot from Alec Baer as the G-Men bumped a six game slide with the victory.
The Giants will be back in action at the Pacific Coliseum on December 2nd for Toonie Wednesday when the club hosts the Medicine Hat Tigers! For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
