Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Swift Current, SK - Trailing 1-0 heading into the third period, the Prince Albert Raiders scored twice to edge the Swift Current Broncos 2-1 on Saturday evening at the Credit Union iPlex.

For 46 minutes on Saturday night, it appeared that Jake DeBrusk's late first period goal would stand as the game-winner as the Raiders and Broncos got locked in a tight defensive battle. An unassisted goal in the third period by Simon Stransky shifted momentum in Prince Albert's favour though, setting up an exciting finish.

The Raiders took their first and only lead of the night with 1:30 left in regulation as Austin Glover blasted home the game-winning goal on a one-timed feed by Jesse Lees. The tally was Glover's eighth of the season and his third game-winning goal of the campaign.

DeBrusk's goal with 1.6 seconds remaining in the opening frame showered the ice with teddy bears on the Broncos' Teddy Bear Toss Night.

Rylan Parenteau got the start for the Raiders and had a strong performance with 28 saves on 29 attempts. Swift Current goaltender Travis Child made 24 stops on 26 shots.

The Broncos outshot the Raiders 29-26. Prince Albert went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Swift Current was 0-for-3.

The win snaps the Raiders mini two-game skid and improves their record to 16-7-2-1. The Broncos drop their eighth-straight game and fall to 8-15-3-0.

The Raiders are back on the road next week as they begin a four-game stretch in Alberta, starting with a match-up against the Calgary Hitmen on Thursday, December 3. The team returns to the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday, December 12 when they host the Kamloops Blazers for Canadian Tire Teddy Bear Toss Night.
