Vancouver Giants News Release

Kent, WA - The Vancouver Giants got goals from Ty Ronning, Alec Baer and Matt Barberis on Friday night, but they fell 5-3 to the Seattle Thunderbirds at the ShoWare Center.

Jarret Tyszka gave the T-Birds an early 1-0 lead when he scored on a shot from the top of the left circle on a power play less than four minutes into the game. Ronning tied the game for Vancouver, netting a power play marker of his own after driving the net and knocking home a rebound. The game was tied 1-1 after the opening frame.

The start of the second period was delayed by over 20 minutes, due to an issue with the lighting in the arena. When the stanza finally did get underway, Seattle scored three unanswered goals from Ethan Bear, Matthew Wedman and Ryan Gropp to extend the lead. Baer made it 4-2 before the end of the period, scoring off the rush.

Jerret Smith added another goal for Seattle early in the final frame while Barberis scored again for Vancouver with less than five minutes to go.

The Giants will conclude their four game road swing on Saturday afternoon against the Portland Winterhawks. Puck drop is slated for 3:00pm.

The Giants will be back in action at the Pacific Coliseum on December 2nd for Toonie Wednesday when the club hosts the Medicine Hat Tigers! For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
