Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals dropped a 3-1 decision to the Kelowna Rockets, who were led by netminder Jackson Whistle, in a battle of the top two teams in the Western Conference on Friday night.

The Royals and Rockets skated into tonight's match as the two best teams in the Western Conference.Besides an Alex Forsberg tally in the third period, the Royals were stymied all night by Whistle who stopped 34 of the 35 shots fired his way. Kelowna's Tyson Baillie notched the game winner in the middle frame, while Calvin Thurkauf and Justin Kirkland tallied the other Rockets' goals.

Royals' goaltender Coleman Vollrath turned away 20 of the 23 shots he faced.

Victoria went 0/6=0.0% on the powerplay, while Kelowna went 2/4=50.0%.

The Royals will wrap up their two-game series with the Rockets tomorrow night. Victoria's four-game homestand will conclude with contests against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday, December 1st and the Kootenay ICE on Saturday, December 5th. Puck drop for all three games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
