Koperniak Clubs Ninth Inning Homer in Loss to Durham

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game homestand with a 12-4 loss to the Durham Bulls on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

To lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, left fielder Matt Koperniak drilled the first pitch he saw over the right-field wall for his third home run at Triple-A and his second home run of the season. Each of his home runs have come in the eighth inning or later.

On the mound, Zack Thompson tossed 3.2 innings of one-run baseball in the loss. The left-handed pitcher allowed two hits, walked six and struck out six. In total, the two teams combined for 20 strikeouts and 19 walks in the game.

Other contributors at the plate included third baseman Errol Robinson, who went 2-for-4 out of the ninth spot in the lineup, and catcher Ivan Herrera, who went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI and two walks.

The Redbirds (34-28) return to AutoZone Park on Sunday, June 10 to conclude a six-game homestand at 2:05p.m. CDT against the Durham Bulls.
