Komets Take Four Points For Week 18

Fort Wayne, IN — The Komets took a pair of wins and 4 points for the 3rd consecutive week to hold a 34-15-4 record and 72 points after 18 weeks of the 2004-05 UHL campaign. The Komets rest in 2nd place in the Western Conference, 2 points behind first-place Rockford after 53 games of the 80-game season. The Komets have completed 26 of 40 home games (18-7-1, .712) and 27 of 40 games on the road (16-8-3, .648). -UHL Standings- -Komets Team Stats-

The Komets started the week with a 4-1 win over the visiting Adirondack Frostbite Wednesday night. Rob Guinn (D), P.C. Drouin (LW), Blake Stewart (LW) and Josh Piro (LW) scored for the Komets. It was Stewart's first goal as a Komet and Piro's first career tally. Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre earned the win stopping 23 of 24 Adirondack shots.

Friday night the Komets ambushed the Outlaws at Kansas City 4-1 for their 5th straight road win and season-high 8th straight win overall. Chris Grenville (RW) extended his point streak to 7 games (4-5=9) with the first goal of the night. Dustin Virag (RW), Jonathan Goodwin (RW) and Troy Neumeier (D) also added marks. Drouin passed 3 assists and Colin Chaulk (C) dished a pair of assists to hit the 50-assist mark for his 3rd consecutive season. St. Pierre, making his 30th appearance of the season, registered his 8th straight win making 30 saves in his 12th straight start.

Saturday night the Komet's win string ended with a 3-0 decision at Missouri. Tyler Masters was the Komet goaltender of record stopping 29 of 32 shots. Sunday the Komets returned home for the 2nd of a home-and-home series with the River Otters and were turned back by Missouri 4-0. St. Pierre made 22 saves on 26 shots for his first setback in 9 appearances. The Komets are now 3-3-2 against Missouri this season with 2 meetings remaining.

This week the Komets are slated for 3 games in 4 nights. Wednesday the Kalamazoo Wings make their 2nd of 4 appearances in Fort Wayne at 7:30pm. Friday the Komets skate at Port Huron at 7:05pm in the first of another home-and-home series. The Komets and Beacons square off in Fort Wayne Saturday night at 7:30.
