Countdown to Face-Off
February 14, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The Kalamazoo Wings conclude their four-game home stand tonight against the Rockford IceHogs. Tonight's game coincides with the 5th Annual Pink Ice Game. The K-Wings are 1-3-0 on the Pink Ice. Also tonight, Wings Stadium will be the site of the largest wedding in Kalamazoo, as Amy Geurink and Andy Young will tie the knot during the first period intermission.
The K-Wings have been red hot winning four of their last five games. Kalamazoo comes into tonight's game just seven points behind the Muskegon Fury for the top spot in the Central Division. Forward Yannick Carpentier will try to become the first K-Wings player this season to have a six-game point streak. The K-Wings will get a boost to their line-up, as defenseman Greg Labenski will lace up his skates after being on an AHL call-up with the Cleveland Barons.
This year's edition of the Rockford IceHogs are by far the best in team history and that is depicted in the standings. Rockford comes into tonight's game with the best winning percentage (.685) in the entire UHL. The IceHogs, who have played well on the road going 15-7-3 away from the Rockford MetroCentre, are starting a four game road swing tonight and a stretch of games that will keep them away from home in seven of their next nine games.
