Rockford takes two of three, return to road in week 19

The Rockford IceHogs picked up two more wins during Week 18 of the 2004-05 United Hockey League season, including a thrilling come from behind victory over Port Huron on Wednesday. The Hogs now hit the road for four straight contests including a Missouri swing which has the Hogs scheduled to play the River Otters on Wednesday and the Kansas City Outlaws on Friday and Saturday.

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs accomplished 20 games over .500 for the first time in franchise history.

Center Alex Kim is heating up, notching a point in three straight games (1g-4a-5pts) and registering a point in six of his first 10 games in an IceHogs uniform.

Center J.C. Ruid has a goal in three straight games, marking the third time this season the veteran center has had a streak of three or more games with a goal.

With his next goal, Ruid will become just the seventh Hogs skater to reach the 30-goal plateau in one-season.

On Friday night, the IceHogs accumulated 11 points in their 4-1 win over the Flint Generals, all by 11 different players.

Defenseman Nathan Lutz received his second call-up to the American Hockey League last week when the Chicago Wolves promoted him. The IceHogs have had seven players loaned to the AHL this season.

The IceHogs topped 100,000 fans for the sixth straight season over the weekend.

On Saturday, the IceHogs lost for the first time this season when they scored first. The Hogs are now 28-1-2 when scoring the game's first goal.

Rockford still leads the UHL with 329 power play opportunities. The next closest team, Flint, has 290.

Hot Hog: Week 18 Center Alex Kim: One of the newest Hogs is establishing himself as one of the consistent helpers for Rockford. Kim had at least one-point in all three games during Week 18. The third year center had 1g-4a-5pts and was a plus-3 in three games, helping the Hogs stay atop the Western Division.

Upcoming Games:

Monday, February 14th at Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 6:05 p.m. The IceHogs return to Kalamazoo for the Wings traditional "Pink Ice" game! It's the second meeting of the season in K-zoo with the former division rivals.

Wednesday, February 16 at Missouri River Otters. Game will start at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs travel back to Missouri to take on the River Otters. The Hogs and Otters have four more meetings remaining on the 2004-05 schedule.

Friday, February 18 at Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m.. The IceHogs return to Kemper Arena for the front end of back-to-back games in KC against the Western Division rivals. Saturday, February 19 at Kansas City Outlaws Game begins at 1:05 p.m. Another afternoon matinee in Kansas City as the Hogs wrap up Week 18 and a back-to back series at Kemper Arena against the Outlaws.

No Budweiser HogTalk At The Olympic Tavern This Week:

Due to a game at Kalamazoo on Monday, the Budweiser Hog Talk at the Olympic Tavern was not scheduled for this week. . HogTalk will, however, return next week at 6:30 p.m. Join the Rockford IceHogs and Budweiser at the Olympic Tavern every Monday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for HogTalk.
