Komets host 44th Thanksgiving game

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets will host their 44th straight Thanksgiving Day game in Fort Wayne this Thursday when they faceoff at 7:30pm against the Quad City Mallards. It's the 7th UHL Thanksgiving game in Fort Wayne since the Komets joined the league in 1999 (4-2-0). The Komets hold a 26-14-3 all-time record at home when playing on the traditional holiday after feasting on the Mallards last year 5-3 in front of a Fort Wayne UHL record Thanksgiving crowd of 8,060.

Friday the Komets travel to Missouri for an 8pm faceoff against the Otters at The Family Arena (no Fort Wayne radio). Saturday the Komets return home to host the Flint Generals in their first meeting of the season at 7:30pm.

Tickets for all 2005-06 Komet regular season home games are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group discounts are available by calling the Komet office at 260-483-0011.

For the week......in 3 games played this past week, the Komets were 0-3-0. Friday the Komets dropped a 9-6 decision to the visiting Muskegon Fury. Saturday the Komets were turned back 6-2 in Rockford. Sunday the Komets and IceHogs returned to Fort Wayne where the Komets were doubled-up by Rockford 4-2.

Streaking.....winger P.C. Drouin had his season-high point-scoring streak snapped Sunday at 11 games (5g, 10a, 15pts).....center Mark Smith is riding a 3-game point streak (2g, 1a, 3pts).

Milestones.......Mark Smith (C) registered his 200th pro point (N. America) when he scored a shorthanded goal Saturday night at Rockford.....Colin Chaulk (C) recorded his 400th pro assist Friday night at Muskegon and has 297 UHL career assists and 398 UHL career points......Guy Dupuis (D) has 99 career goals.

Komet Hockey on WOWO, and ESPN Radio......most of the Komet games are broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 this year with Bob Chase at the Fort Wayne microphone for his 53rd consecutive season. Some games will be aired on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when conflicts occur. This week Komet games Thursday and Saturday will air on ESPN Radio 1380. Friday's game at Missouri will not be aired. All games aired on the radio will also be available via the internet at www.komets.com Comcast KometCast. Join Bob for the Sprint P.C.S. Pregame Show 15 minutes prior to the faceoff of each Komet game broadcast.

Hicksville Bank teams with Komets for Coat Drive.....starting this Saturday night, Nov. 26 when the Komets host the Flint Generals, gently-used coats and blankets will be accepted for the needy at Komet home games through Dec. 16. Fans can also drop off coats and blankets at Hicksville Bank's Fort Wayne Loan Center at 927 E. Dupont Road across from the Pine Valley Shopping Center during the holiday season.
