November 21, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The Kalamazoo Wings started their week on Wednesday (11/16) with a home game against the Rockford IceHogs. The K-Wings used a four-goal first period to electrify a crowd of 2,538 at Wings Stadium. After a scoreless second period, the K-Wings poured on three more goals en route to a 7-0 victory. Tyler Willis led all K-Wings with three points (2 goals, 1 assist). Joel Martin earned his first shutout of the season by stopping all 29 shots he faced.
The K-Wings stayed home on Friday (11/18), as they finished off their four-game home stand against the Roanoke Valley Vipers. After trading goals in each of the first two periods, the K-Wings put the game away in the third period, when both Tyler Rennette (6) and Lucas Drake (5) lit the lamp to give Kalamazoo a 4-2 victory over Roanoke. The K-Wings power-play proved to be the difference in the game, as they went 3 for 7 in the contest.
Kalamazoo returned to the site of their last loss, when they played the Muskegon Fury at the L.C. Walker Arena. Both Tim Krueckl and Tyler Rennette scored a pair of goals to lead the K-Wings past the two-time defending Colonial Cup Champions by the score of 4-2. The K-Wings victory over the Fury marked the first defeat for Muskegon this season.
The K-Wings finished off the week with a Sunday (11/20) matinee versus the Quad City Mallards at Wings Stadium. The game proved to be the Joe Seroski show, as the veteran forward paved the way for the K-Wings 5-3 win with a four-point night (3 goals and 1 assist). The hat trick by Seroski was both his second and the K-Wings second this season. The victory by Kalamazoo moved the K-Wings into a first place tie with the Muskegon Fury in the Central Division.
Fast Forward
For the second straight week, the K-Wings will lace up their skates for four games in five nights starting Wednesday, November 23rd against the Flint Generals. This will be the first of eight meetings between the teams. Kalamazoo trails the all-time series with Flint with a record of 17-22-2.
The day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 25th, the K-Wings will remain on the road as they play the Rockford IceHogs. The K-Wings are 1-1-0 against the IceHogs this season, with the home team winning the previous games. Kalamazoo defeated Rockford last Wednesday at Wings Stadium.

Fast Forward Continued
On Saturday (11/26), the K-Wings will conclude their three-game road swing with a trip to Fraser, Michigan to battle the Motor City Mechanics. The Mechanics start the week in third place in the Central Division, five points behind both the K-Wings and the Fury for first place honors. Kalamazoo is 1-0-0 against Motor City this season, as the K-Wings defeated the Mechanics 6-0 on October 28th at The Garage.
Kalamazoo will conclude the week on Sunday (11/27), with a 4 p.m. matinee home game against the Flint Generls on Harry Potter Day presented by Celebration Cinema and WKFR. The Generals start the week in fifth place in the Central Division; however, they are just eight points out of first place.
Not Your Average Joe
K-Wings forward Joe Seroski had an amazing week. Seroski, who leads the team in goals scored with 10, recorded his second hat trick of the season yesterday versus Quad City. The three goals were part of a four-point night that capped off a nine-point (6 goals, 3 assists) week for the forward, which earned the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Seroski's second goal against the Mallards was also his 200th of his pro career.
Just Win Baby
The K-Wings are currently on a six-game overall and seven game-home winning streak. Both winning streaks are the longest current win streaks in the league.
Five Alive
Forward Nick Bootland will start the game on Wednesday with a five-game point streak. The five-game streak is the longest current point streak by a K-Wings player.
Atop of the Division
With a perfect 4-0-0 week, the K-Wings are now in first in the Central Division. The K-Wings start the week with a record of 10-2-0 (20 points), which places them in a first place tie with the Muskegon Fury.
The Obscure Stat of the Week
Mike Manley has scored three goals this season. What makes his three goals obscure is that all of them were scored shorthanded.
