
Rockford rebounds to take five of six points over weekend

After suffering their worst loss of the 2005-06 season on Wednesday against the Kalamazoo Wings, the Rockford IceHogs bounced back and picked up five of six standings' points over the weekend to remain in first place in the UHL Western Division. Rockford finishes out a stretch of 11 games in 17 days during Week 6 with four games in five days.

Sunday, November 20: Rockford IceHogs 4 at Fort Wayne Komets 2: The Rockford IceHogs completed a home-and-home series sweep of the Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday, knocking off the Komets 4-2 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind. After falling behind 2-1, Rockford scored three unanswered goals to pick up their 12th win of the campaign. Rockford center Olivier Proulx began the scoring at 12:35 of the opening period, firing a rebound past Fort Wayne goalie Zach Sikich. The Komets responded with two power play goals after a double minor was assessed to Hogs d-man Nathan Lutz. The first power play marker was knocked in by Mark Smith at 14:45 past Hogs goalie Michel Robinson. Then at 15:39 Mike Wiggins beat Robinson to give Fort Wayne the 2-1 advantage at the break. In the second, the Hogs would tie the contest with a power play goal from Proulx, his second of the night, at 7:26. Rockford would then pull away in the third with a pair of tallies. Winger Jason Notermann scored the eventual game-winner at 6:59 before rookie center Steve Yetman added an insurance marker at 15:55. The Hogs recorded a season-low 20 shots on goal in the contest. Robinson made 34 saves to earn his fifth win of the campaign.

-Robinson was loaned to the Chicago Wolves on Friday, Nov. 18.
-Mizzi was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals on Monday, Nov. 14.

The IceHogs are unbeaten in nine home games this season (8-0-1).
Winger Jason Notermann has a goal in six of the IceHogs last seven games.
After a power play stretch of 3-for-45 (6.7%), the IceHogs are 6-for-24 (25%) on the power play over their last three games.
IceHogs winger Jason Ralph played in his 300th career game on Wednesday in Kalamazoo.
Despite a season-low 20 shots on goal against Fort Wayne on Sunday, the Hogs won 4-2.
IceHogs winger Billy Tibbetts scored his 100th career goal on Saturday.
Rockford is 10-0-0 when scoring the game's first goal.
The IceHogs are 3-0-0 in the third game of back-to-back-to-back contests.
Rockford hadn't given up a short-handed goal at home since April 4, 2004 against Kalamazoo, until Saturday when the Komets netted two shorties in the first period. That was a stretch of 50 games.
Rookie winger Robin Big Snake has 77 PIM's over his last seven games. He currently leads the UHL with 122 PIM's.
Defenseman Corey Hessler has a point in three straight games (1g-4a-5pts). Hessler also tied a club-record for assists in a game by a defenseman when he chipped in three helpers on Friday against Motor City.
Hot Hog Week 5:
For the second straight week, winger Jason Notermann is the IceHogs Player of the Week nominee. Notermann had 4g-2a-6pts in four games and has a goal in six of the Hogs last seven games. The winger is tied for the team lead with 10 goals and leads the club with 12 assists, 22 points and a plus/minus rating of +12.

Wednesday, November 23 vs. Missouri River Otters. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs traditional Thanksgiving Eve game at the MetroCentre. It's another FlyAway Wednesday with the Rockford Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9. One lucky fan will walk away with a pair of airline tickets from Allegiant Air. Wedensday is also the IceHogs Annual Food Drive. Bring a non-perishable food item to the game and puirchase a ticket and you will receive a fre $9 ticket to this Sunday's Hogs game!
Friday, November 25 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Another showdown with Kalamazoo. The first 2,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs T-shirt from Blackhawk Communications, Smith Electrical Contracting, Avon, FOX39 and Everything Classic Rock 95.3 FM and Lena Sign Shop.
Saturday, November 26 at Muskegon Fury. Game time is slated for 6:40 p.m. Rockford's first matchup with the defending champs. The Hogs and Fury have the top two records in the UHL coming into Week 6.
Sunday, November 27 vs. Quad City Mallards. The game starts at 1:05 p.m. The arch-rivals return to Rockford. It's another Insurance King Kids Puck Sunday for the first 500 kids 12-and under. Sunday is also a Family Four Pack Day. Fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for only $48.
HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:
HogTalk returns tonight at Shooter's North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson each Monday. Also this week, Ronnie Vogel and Bruce Watson will be there to talk Hogs hockey and meet fans. HogTalk will not be held on Monday, December 26, due to the Christmas Holiday.
