
Kalamazoo's Joe Seroski, Joel Martin earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Kalamazoo Wings left wing Joe Seroski has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Kalamazoo Wings goaltender Joel Martin has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 20, 2005.
Seroski completed the week with nine points (6g, 3a) and a plus-2 rating in four games played. On Wednesday, he netted the first two goals of the game in the 7-0 victory vs. Rockford. In Friday's 4-2 win vs. the Roanoke Valley Vipers, he finished with a three-point night (1g, 2a). Seroski ended the week by earning a hat trick (3g) plus added an assist in the 5-3 victory vs. Quad City. It was the second hat trick of the season for the 28-year-old native of Hamilton, Ontario. His second goal on Sunday was the 200th of his professional career.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack center Sylvain Cloutier, Danbury forward Alex Goupil, Elmira forward Kevin Cooper, Flint defenseman Fabien Laniel, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Missouri center Lars Pettersen, Motor City center Brent Gretzky, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Port Huron defenseman Jeff Cameron, Quad City forward Evgeny Lazarev, Richmond right wing David Brosseau, Roanoke left wing Josh Tataryn, and Rockford right wing Jason Notermann.
Martin finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a .963 save percentage (SPCT), a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), and one shutout. On Wednesday, he stopped all 29 Rockford shots in the 7-0 victory. It was his first shutout of the season and the second of the season by a Kalamazoo goaltender. In Saturday's 4-2 win vs. Muskegon, Martin made 23 saves to help the Wings hand the Muskegon Fury their first loss of the season. The 23-year-old native of Three Hills, Alberta currently leads all UHL goaltenders with a 1.20 GAA and a .959 SPCT.
