
Knights Fall to Tides 11-6 on Thursday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- First baseman Gavin Sheets launched his 10th home run of the season, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game three of the six-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 11-6 at Truist Field on Thursday night. The loss snapped Charlotte's three-game winning streak.
Sheets drilled a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning for Charlotte's first run of the game. The home run was the team's 13th since Sunday (four games). Sheets also drove in two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. His two-run double in the seventh gave him a total of three RBIs on the night. He also finished the game with three hits.
Second baseman Matt Reynolds, who later pitched the ninth inning, homered in the bottom of the eighth inning. The home run, a two-run shot, was his fourth of the season. It was Charlotte's 14th home run since Sunday.
Outfielder Mikie Mahtook continued his red-hot stretch. Mahtook, who hit two home runs and had five RBIs in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader, went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate on Thursday night. He had three doubles on the night.
LHP John Parke (1-1, 4.42) was saddled with the loss. He started the game for Charlotte and allowed seven runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings pitched.
