May 17, 2023 - International League (IL)
Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate, but fell just short to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in game two of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte by a score of 6-3. The Knights scored one run in the ninth thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Zach Remillard.
Center fielder Clint Frazier and third baseman Lenyn Sosa homered for the Charlotte Knights on Wednesday night to pace the offense.
Down by a score of 2-0, Frazier put the Knights on the scoreboard with his fifth home run of the season, a solo blast in the bottom of the seventh inning. His home run helped the Knights pull to within one run in game two of the series. One inning later, with the Knights now down by a score of 5-1, Sosa launched his fourth home run of the season. The solo home runs provided Charlotte's main offense of the evening. In all, the Knights tallied five hits on the night.
RHP Luke Farrell (0-3, 9.00) started Wednesday's game for Charlotte and was charged with the loss after he allowed just one run over three innings pitched. Charlotte RHP Nick Padilla, who was added to the team's active roster before the game, allowed three runs in the eighth inning. Padilla served up home runs to Ben Rortvedt and Andres Chaparro in the eighth, which helped the RailRiders pull away with the victory.
The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees) on Thursday night. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. Fans can watch the game on the Bally Live app and MiLB.tv. First pitch on Thursday is set for 7:04 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.
