
Kleven Dominant as Cutters Crush Spikes

The Williamsport Crosscutters used stellar pitching coupled with 12 team hits to defeat the State College Spikes 7-0 at Historic Bowman field on Saturday night.
The Cutters broke a scoreless tie in the second, using an RBI double by Kenny Miramontes to go up 1-0. They added two more in the third an RBI groundout by Maikel Franco and an RBI single by Bob Stumpo for a 3-0 lead.
The home team broke it wide open in the fifth, collecting three runs on four hits to make it a 6-0 game. Stumpo and Miramontes delivered RBI base knocks as part of the inning. They tacked on another in the seventh on an RBI double by Cody Asche.
Cutters starter Colin Kleven was brilliant in his fifth start of the season, becoming the first Williamsport pitcher to throw seven innings in a game. He allowed just two hits and induced 15 ground balls in the scoreless effort.
Relievers Cody Fick and Colton Murray each fired a shutout inning to seal the win for Williamsport.
