Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
A solo home run by Renegades Jeff Malm in the home half of the eighth lifted the Renegades past the Connecticut Tigers, 4-3, Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Malm's game-winning home run lifted the Renegades to their third win in as many games and moved them to within five games behind the division-leading Staten Island Yankees.
Renegades starter Jason McEachern went four innings and gave up three runs on five hits but did not factor into the decision. Reliever Mickey Jannis (2-1) earned his second win of the season hurling five innings of no-hit baseball.
The Tigers jumped on the board first plating a run in the top of the first. With Chad Wright on second McEachern gave up a double to Eugenio Suarez to give the Tigers a one-run lead.
The Renegades answered back shortly plating two runs of their own in the second. Cesar Guillen knotted the game up at 1-1 with his first home run of the season. Then with two outs and Brian Bryles on second, Diogenes Luis hit a triple to center field allowing Bryles to cross home and give the Renegades a 2-1 lead.
Connecticut regained the lead in the top of the fourth etching two more runs. With two outs and a runner on third Curtis Casali doubled to left scoring the runner from third knotting the game up a 2-2. Casali scored during the next at-bat thanks to a single off the bat of Zach Maggard to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.
The 3-2 lead was short lived as the Renegades answered right back plating a run of their own in the home half of the fourth.
With the game knotted up at 3-3 Malm went deep for his seventh time this season to give the Renegades the 4-3 victory.
The Renegades and the Tigers continue their three-game series Sunday night at the Dutch with the first pitch slated for 5:05 p.m. Tickets are still available so contact the Renegades box office at 845.838.0094 or visit us at hvrenegades.com.
