
Kings Make Multiple Transactions

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings have activated center Brad Chartrand off of the injured reserve list and have placed center Michael Cammalleri on the injured reserve list, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. In addition, the Kings have recalled forwards Jared Aulin, Scott Barney and Ryan Flinn, and defenseman Joe Corvo from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL). Additionally, the Monarchs have recalled goaltender B.J. Boxma from the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the West Coast Hockey League. Boxma will take the place of goaltender Cristobal Huet on the Monarchs roster. The Kings recalled Huet yesterday.
Chartrand, 28, has missed the last five Kings games due to a back strain. In 43 games for the Kings this season, he has 11 points (7-4=11) and 18 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was placed on the injured reserve list on January 27. In 143 career NHL games, all with the Kings, Chartrand, who the Kings signed as a free agent on July 21, 1999, has 40 points (21-19=40) and 77 penalty minutes.
Cammalleri, 20, missed the last Kings game due to post-concussion symptoms. In 28 games for the Kings this season, he has eight points (5-3=8) and 22 penalty minutes. In 13 games for the Monarchs this season, he has 20 points (5-15=20) and 12 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, made his NHL/Kings debut on November 8 in Ottawa. He was originally selected by the Kings in the second round (49th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Aulin, 20, has played in 14 games for the Kings this season, recording one point (an assist) and zero penalty minutes. In 34 games for the Monarchs this season, he has 34 points - including a team-high 26 assists - and 17 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-0, 192-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, made his NHL/Kings debut on December 17 vs. St. Louis. He was acquired by the Kings from the Colorado Avalanche on February 21, 2001, with Adam Deadmarsh, Aaron Miller, Colorado's first round choice in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (David Steckel) and Colorado's first round choice in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft for Rob Blake and Steve Reinprecht.
Barney, 23, has played in four games for the Kings this season, recording zero points and zero penalty minutes. In 37 games this season with the Monarchs, he has 15 points (10-5=15) and 47 penalty minutes, with his six game-winning goals tops of the club. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of Oshawa, Ontario, made his NHL/Kings debut on January 25 vs. New Jersey. He was originally selected by the Kings in the second round (29th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
Flinn, 22, has played in 25 games with the Monarchs this season, recording four points (2-2=4) and 95 penalty minutes. In 10 games last season with the Kings, after he made his NHL/Kings debut earlier in the year, the 6-foot-5, 248-pound native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, recorded zero points and 51 penalty minutes. The Kings signed him as a free agent on January 9, 2002. He will wear jersey number 49.
Corvo, 26, has played in 24 games for the Kings this season, recording five points (3-2=5) and four penalty minutes. In 26 games with the Monarchs this season, he has 26 points (8-18=26) and eight penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Oak Park, Illinois, made his NHL/Kings debut on December 14 vs. Pittsburgh.
Boxma, 21, has played in 20 games with the Ice Dogs this season. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound native of Edson, Alberta, has a 9-10-0 record, a 3.64 goals against average and a .871 save percentage and one shutout. Boxma signed an American Hockey League Contract with the Monarchs on October 2, 2002. He will wear jersey number 45.
Aulin (one assist), Covo (two goals) and defenseman Tomas Zizka represented the Monarchs in last night's AHL All-Star Game in Portland, Maine. The Canadian squad (featuring Aulin) bested the PlanetUSA team (Corvo and Zizka), 10-7.
The Kings currently have eight players on the injured reserve list. Cammalleri joins forwards Eric Belanger, Ken Belanger, Kip Brennan, Adam Deadmarsh and Ian Laperriere; defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky; and goaltender Felix Potvin.
The Kings next take on the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday, February 5 at STAPLES Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. (10:30 p.m. EST). The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710-KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network.
The Monarchs (27-11-5-3) return to home ice action on Wednesday, February 5 at the Verizon Wireless Arena when they welcome the Manitoba Moose for a 7:05 p.m. contest. The Moose and the Monarchs will also face off on Friday, February 7 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Friday's game is slated for a 7:35 p.m. start. For Monarchs ticket information, call (603) 626-7825.
