
Kingfish Pull off an 13-11 Victory against Kalamazoo

Kenosha, WI - The Kenosha Kingfish (8-7) scraped by with a narrow victory against the Kalamazoo Growlers (5-9) 13-11 Monday, June 14 at Historic Simmons Field.
The Growlers scored first off of Kingfish starter Dante Guarascio (Carthage) who threw only one inning due to reaching the 35 pitch count limit and walking four batters while hitting one. The Kingfish earned these runs back in the bottom of the second on a throwing error from the Kalamazoo first baseman.
The next third of the game was all Kenosha as they put up two more runs against Kalamazoo starter Hayden Berg (Western Michigan) before tallying three runs off of Kalamazoo reliever Luke Pappas (Western Michigan) and three more against Evan Kiser (Guelph University).
The Kingfish were up 12-5 going into the top of the seventh, but the Growlers posted three hits against Kenosha reliever Jared Thompson (Illinois at Springfield) and drew three errors and two walks to score six runs , two of which were earned.
From there, the Kingfish managed to pick up another run to put them ahead by two. Brady Kais (Columbus State) shut the Growlers down in the last two innings to earn the save, while Hayden Fox (UW Whitewater) was credited with the win for the Kingfish. Kalamazoo starter Berg took the loss.
Cam Redding (St. Louis University) went 3-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, and Justin Janas (University of Illinois) went 2-3 with a pair of RBIs and walks.
The Kingfish play the Growlers at Historic Simmons field tomorrow, Tuesday, June 15, at 6:05 p.m. CT to finish off the series.
