Killian Sent to Arizona Rangers
May 22, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release
Clinton, IA - The Texas Rangers have announced Monday that Clinton LumberKings catcher Billy Killian has been sent to the Rangers affiliate in the Arizona League. Killian had been hitting just .164 in 17 games with the LumberKings, recording two doubles, two triples and six RBI's in 61 plate appearances.
Killian, 19, had been acquired this past offseason from the San Diego Padres in the same trade that brought pitchers Adam Eaton and Akinori Otsuka to Texas. The move comes just three days after the promotion of catcher Alberto Martinez to Clinton from extended spring training.
The move gives the LumberKings 24 players on the 25-man roster, including two catchers, Martinez and Brian Valichka.
