Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The Clinton LumberKings used an RBI double by Cristian Santana and solid starting pitching by Evan Reed (1-0) to hold the Cedar Rapids Kernels to four hits in a 1-0 shutout win in game 1 of a DH on Saturday evening at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton.
Jay Brosselman had two of the four Kernels hits. Hector Estrella and Efren Navarro each had a single to complete the Kernel offense.
Kernels starter Jordan Walden (0-1) was a victim of no run support as he held the LumberKings to a run on six hits and struck out four in the complete game loss.
Josh Lueke struck out two in the top of the seventh to earn his first save of the season.
The Kernels and LumberKings play game two of today's DH as Michael Davitt makes a spot start for the Kernels and Neftali Feliz starts for Clinton.
