Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Three runs by the Snappers weren't enough, as they fell to the Kane County Cougars in game two of the doubleheader, 6-3. The Beloit offense was only able to put up four hits, as the defending Midwest League Western Division Champions fell to 0-3 on the season.

The Snappers struck first in the bottom of the second inning off the bat of Garrett Olson. The Norway, Maine native drove the ball to deep left, giving Beloit the early 1-0 advantage.

The Cougars bounced back to score one of their own in the top of the fourth, only to have the Snappers top that with one more in the bottom half. Mark Dolenc, who earlier reached on an error, was able to score from third on a wild pitch from Kane County's Scott Deal. Dolenc's run made it a 2-1 Snapper lead after four.

Kane County then put the game out of reach for Beloit, scoring five runs in the top half of the fifth inning. The Cougars got all five runs off Snappers starter Michael Tarsi. Kane County's explosion gave them a 6-2 lead.

That would be all that they would need, as the Oakland A's single A affiliate went on to win by a final of 6-3.

Beloit's Chris Parmelee snapped out of his early slump, cracking his first homer of the season in the sixth inning to left-center field.

Upcoming Schedule: Beloit and Kane County finish up their four-game series tomorrow at Pohlman Field on Sunday at 2:00pm. Beloit will throw Daniel Berlind while Kane County will have Scott Mitchinson on the mound. Gates open up at 1:00pm.
