Kyle Kendrick pitched seven innings of one-run baseball as the Salt Lake Bees cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Friday night. Kendrick (5-2) put together his second straight one-run outing allowing only five hits and a walk while striking out four lowering his ERA to 4.39 on the season. Following Kendrick Jose Valdez and Greg Mahle teamed up for two innings of relief to finish off the game. Las Vegas scored both runs on solo home runs with Roger Bernadina taking Kendrick to centerfield in the fifth and Johnny Monell went over the right field wall against Mahle in the 9th.

The Bees offense got started early as Rafael Ortega doubled and Nick Buss followed up with a RBI single in the second and third at-bats of the game to score the first run. Kaleb Cowart would follow with a double and Ji-Man Choi a single to give the Bees an early three run lead. Buss finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs in his first start after being activated from the disabled list. Outfielder Cal Towey hit a two run homer for the Bees in the sixth, his first round tripper in Triple-A.

The Bees and 51s will meet three more times during the homestand with Saturday night's game starting at 6:35 with fireworks postgame.
