Reno Aces News Release

ALBUQUERQUE - The Reno Aces defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 4-1 in the second game of the teams' four-game series on Saturday night at Isotopes Park. Reno scored all four of its runs with two outs, while the pitching staff held Albuquerque hitless in six at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Sócrates Brito (@SocratesBrito) gave the Aces a 1-0 lead in the first when he took the first pitch he saw from Matt Flemer out to right field for a solo home run. The dinger was Brito's fifth of the year; all five have come against right-handed pitching, despite the fact that the Dominican native has a higher average against lefties.

Reno (37-31) struck for two more runs in the fourth, extending its lead to 3-0. Jack Reinheimer (@Reinheimer_08) led off the inning with a single to left, stealing second before Mitch Haniger (@M_Hanny19) launched a two-run home run to left. The blast marked the former Cal Poly star's fifth homer in nine games with Reno, matching his total over 55 games earlier this year with Double-A Mobile.

Albuquerque (31-38) got on the board in the seventh, trimming the Aces' lead to 3-1. Tom Murphy and Jordan Patterson hit back-to-back singles to chase Aces starter Edwin Escobar, and Murphy later scored on a one-out fielder's choice off the bat of Jeff Bianchi.

The Aces added an insurance run in the ninth. Haniger singled through the left side with one out and then stole second. Following a strikeout, Carlos Rivero (@Carlos_Rivero3) completed the scoring when he blooped an RBI base hit to right to increase Reno's lead to 4-1.

Escobar (4-1) earned the win for Reno after he allowed one earned run on six hits over six-plus innings, with two walks and two strikeouts. He now has thrown six innings each time in winning three consecutive starts. Dominic Leone (@dleone54) recorded a strikeout during a perfect seventh and eighth frames, and he has not allowed a run in four two-inning outings this season. Silvino Bracho (@silvinobracho) allowed a hit and struck out a batter in the ninth to notch his 13th save in 14 opportunities.

Haniger recorded his fourth multi-hit and multi-RBI game with Reno, while Brito's home run gives him 30 RBI with the Aces. He is one of four current players on the team with at least that many RBI (Kyle Jensen - 58, Rivero - 33, Reinheimer - 32).

The Aces continue their 12-game road trip with game three at Albuquerque on Father's Day. First pitch is slated for 5:05 p.m. PT. Right-hander Matt Buschmann (2-6, 5.68) will toe the rubber for Reno, while Albuquerque will counter with righty Jeff Hoffman (4-4, 3.62).
