Brockton, MA (July 28, 2008) - The Can-Am League announced today that Rox starting pitcher John Kelly has been named Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.

Kelly hurled eight innings against the Nashua Pride last Wednesday at Campanelli Stadium. The 36-year-old veteran from Leominster, MA surrendered only one earned run off five hits in the Rox 5-2 victory. Kelly matched a season high with 11 strikeouts in that game and is currently second in the league with 83 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched.

Kelly, who also serves as the Rox pitching coach, is in the middle of his 16th season in professional baseball and third in the City of Champions. He holds a 20-7 career record with the Rox and a 2.16 ERA in 45 games. His 20 wins place him third on the Rox all-time list and his 268 career strikeouts are second all-time.

The league also named Kelly as the Pitcher of the Week back on June 1st following back-to-back wins against the Pride in his first two starts. The Pitcher of the Week is chosen by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
