Lexington Legends News Release

A four-run outburst in the second inning sent the Kannapolis Intimidators to a 5-2 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night.

The Intimidators started the second with four straight hits. Singles by Mike Blanke and Dan Black and doubles by Juan Silverio and Drew Lee produced two runs. Legends' starter Tanner Bushue was removed from the game at that point due to lower back spasms.

Reliever Jason Chowning struck out Kenny Gilbert, but Kyle Eveland's infield hit scored Silverio from third, and when second baseman Delino DeShields threw past first in his effort to get Eveland, Lee also scored.

Kannapolis added a run in the third on singles by Brady Shoemaker and Blanke, and a sacrifice fly by Silverio. Lexington scored a run in the fourth on a double by Jiovanni Mier, who had three hits in the game, and a single by Mike Kvasnicka. The Legends added a final run in the sixth on a walk to DeShields, a single by Mier, an infield out by Adam Bailey and a base hit by Kvasnicka.

Kannapolis starter Jake Petricka (3-1) worked the first seven innings and got the win. Bushue (5-1) took his first loss of the year.

The Legends, who were swept in the four-game series by Kannapolis, return home to open a four-game series with the Asheville Tourists Friday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
