Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (21-13) bullpen tossed 6.2 scoreless innings en route to a 6-3 win over the Hagerstown Suns in the finale at Municipal Stadium on Thursday night. The Shorebirds and Suns split the four-game series. The Shorebirds have not lost a series in six straight series (4-0-2).
The Shorebirds plated the first run of the game in the third inning. Mychal Givens reached on a one out single through the right side of the infield. Givens then stole second base. With two outs, the first baseman Mills Rogers dropped a throw by third baseman Blake Kelso, allowing Givens to score.
The Suns grabbed the lead in the third. Jacob Pettit, who walked a season high five batters, issued a walk to Blake Kelso to open the inning. Then, Adrian Sanchez and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. David Freitas followed with a two-run double to give the Suns a 2-1 lead. Randolph Oduber then singled to score Harper to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Shorebirds took the lead back in the fifth inning. Ty Kelly, who finished with three RBIs, hit a big two-run double down the left field line to tie the score at 3-3.
