Steve Kline Suspended 15 Games and Fined

May 12, 2011 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa announced today that GreenJackets pitching coach Steve Kline has been suspended 15 games and fined $500 for his actions in the May 10th game against the Rome Braves at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Kline was ejected in the fifth inning that night and the league action stems from his argument with umpire Carlos Torres following that ejection.

San Francisco Giants minor league pitching coordinator Bert Bradley is expected to arrive in Augusta by gametime and will serve as interim pitching coach during Kline's suspension. Kline will still be permitted to participate in team activities before and after GreenJackets games. Kline does not wish to comment on the situation at this time.
