Kalamazoo Defeats Florida 4-1 in Game Two

Estero, FL- Rebounding from a game one loss, the Kalamazoo Wings dominated from the opening face-off to defeat the Florida Everblades 4-1 to even up the best-of five series at one-game apiece.

In game one, the K-Wings pelted Bobby Goepfert in the first period, but had nothing to show for it. Twenty-four hours later, Kalamazoo threw the kitchen sink at the Everblades netminder again, this time with different results.

After playing two shifts in game one, Brian McGuirk received regular ice time in game two due to a scratch to Brady Leisenring. McGuirk (1st) made the most of his ice time by scoring on rebound 2:23 into the game.

Kalamazoo extended their lead 16:26 into the period, when Brandon Svendsen (1st) deflected a Sam Ftorek blue line blast over the left shoulder of Goepfert.

With 26.6 seconds remaining in the period, the K-Wings took advantage of their lone power-play of the stanza, when former Everblade A.J. Thelen (1st) used a screen to beat Goepfert five-hole.

Starting the second period by hitting the crossbar four times in a span of five seconds, Kalamazoo finally found the back of the net midway into the period in an unconventional manner, as Kory Karlander (1st) received a pass from Trent Daavettila to the light the lamp shorthanded.

After the goal, Goepfert was pulled for Mike Zacharias. Goepfert finished the game with 21 saves on 25 shots in 31:12 between the pipes.

Florida wrapped up the game's scoring in third period with a goal from Eric Olimb (1st) 3:56 into the stanza.

Ryan Nie (1-1) earned the victory for the K-Wings stopping 34 shots.
