April 6, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, return home for the conclusion of their Western Conference Quarterfinal match up against the Victoria Salmon Kings this weekend. Game 3 is Friday, Game 4 is Saturday night and Game 5, if necessary, is Monday night. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., the puck drops at 7 p.m. all three nights. The first round of the playoffs is sponsored by ABC23, Cal Water and Bakersfield Hyundai.
Friday, Apr. 8 - Game 3 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
The Condors and Salmon Kings take the ice Friday night for Game 3 of the best-of-five series. One of the two teams will take a 2-games-to-1 lead in the series Friday, putting themselves one win away from advancing to the second round. Both Friday and Saturday night fans have the chance to leave the game with a brand new car. If the Condors score a goal with 11:11 on the clock in any period (excluding overtime), either Friday or Saturday, one fan will win a new Hyundai! The 11:11 signifies the team's current 11-game home winning streak (a team record), and their 11-game overall winning streak (which tied an 11 year-old team record).
Also on Friday, G Brian Stewart will be honored as the Kern Trophies Condor of the Month for March. Stewart ran away with the voting online at BakersfieldCondors.com after his 10-2-0 month, including a Condors record 10 consecutive wins, a 1.75 goals against average and a .940 save percentage, which helped vault the Condors to the top of the Pacific Division by month's end.
During the first intermission on Friday, team captain F Andrew Ianiero and G Brian Stewart will have their 2010-11 pregame warm-up jerseys auctioned off live at center ice. The jerseys are two of just over a dozen remaining that will be handed off after the weekend. Proceeds from the jerseys will benefit the Active 20/30 club. See below for more information on the jersey raffle details.
Saturday, Apr. 9 - Game 4 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
The Kelly Cup Playoffs continue Saturday night for Game 4. This game also features the Hyundai giveaway promotion, regardless if a car is given away on Friday night. That's right - TWO FREE CARS may be given away with some help from the Condors goal scorers (and some really precise timing).
Monday, Apr. 11 - Game 5 (if necessary) at 7 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Condors fans could experience a repeat of last season, when the Condors and Salmon Kings went toe-to-toe in a five-game opening round series. Should it come to that, the game will take place on Monday, Apr. 11 at 7 p.m. The team that advances will play the winner of the Utah vs. Stockton series (Utah currently leads the series, 1-0).
