
Elmira's Regan Named ECHL Defenseman of the Year

PRINCETON, N.J. ¬" The ECHL on Wednesday announced that Eric Regan of the Elmira Jackals is the ECHL Defenseman of the Year for 2010-11 as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches.
The ECHL Defenseman of the Year award is presented annually to the defensive player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-around ability in the position.
Wes Cunningham of the Greenville Road Warriors was the runner up for the award.
The winner of the Reebok Goaltender of the Year award will be announced on Thursday.
Regan, who was a runner-up for the Defenseman of the Year award last season while playing for Bakersfield, was third among ECHL defensemen with 13 goals and tied for third with 41 points while his six power-play goals were tied for fifth among blueliners. The 22 year old, who is under contract to the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League, also appeared in 12 games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League this season where he tallied one assist.
