Alaska's Coleman Named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for March

PRINCETON, N.J. ‚¬" Gerald Coleman of the Alaska Aces has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for March.

Coleman went 8-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.06 goals-against average and a save percentage of .958 in nine appearances for the Aces, helping Alaska to the Mountain Division and Brabham Cup titles.

The 26 year old allowed one goal or less in seven of his nine appearances during the month, including a 19-save performance in a 4-0 shutout against Utah on March 25. He made 35 saves in a 3-2 win over Las Vegas on March 22 and ended the month with five consecutive wins.

Coleman, who was named to the All-ECHL ‚¬Ë†First-Team last week, led the ECHL with a 2.19 goals-against average and was tied for the league lead with 30 wins and four shutouts.

A native of Evanston, Ill., Coleman has appeared in 145 ECHL games with Johnstown, Augusta, Phoenix, Trenton and Alaska posting an overall record of 79-47-11 with eight shutouts, a 2.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .907. Coleman also has 81 games of American ‚¬Ë†Hockey League experience with Springfield, Portland, Worcester and Lowell and two games of National Hockey League experience with ‚¬Ë†Tampa Bay.

Runner-Up: Brian ‚¬Ë†Stewart, ‚¬Ë†Bakersfield (10-2-0, 1.75 GAA, .940 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Bobby Goepfert (Florida), Ryan Nie (Kalamazoo), Matt Dalton (Reading), Thomas McCollum (Toledo) and David Shantz (Victoria).
