Alaska Aces News Release

Alaska Aces goaltender Gerald Coleman and forward Wes Goldie have been respectively named the ECHL Goaltender and Reebok Player of the Month for March, the league announced on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive month that an Aces goaltender received the honor, and the third season award for Goldie, who has earned two separate Player of the Week selections this year. The Aces begin their 2011 Kelly Cup Post-Season on Friday, April 15th in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals at Sullivan Arena. Playoff tickets are on sale now at the Aces office, the Sullivan Arena Box Office, Fred Meyer Stores, or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Coleman, 26, went 8-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.06 goals-against average and a save percentage of .958 in nine appearances for the Aces, helping Alaska to the Mountain Division, Western Conference, and Brabham Cup titles. Coleman began the month in Peoria of the American Hockey League, and upon his return to the Aces, put up incredible numbers. He allowed one goal or less in seven of his nine appearances during the month, including a 19-save performance in a 4-0 shutout against Utah on March 25. He made 35 saves in a 3-2 win over Las Vegas on March 22 and ended the month with five consecutive wins. Coleman, who was named to the All-ECHL First-Team last week, led the ECHL this season with a 2.19 goals-against average and was tied for the league lead with 30 wins and four shutouts, becoming just the third Aces goaltender to reach 30+ wins in a season.

A native of Evanston, Ill., Coleman has appeared in 145 ECHL games with Johnstown, Augusta, Phoenix, Trenton and Alaska posting an overall record of 79-47-11 with eight shutouts, a 2.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .907. Coleman also has 81 games of American Hockey League experience with Springfield, Portland, Worcester and Lowell and two games of National Hockey League experience with Tampa Bay. Coleman takes the award following teammate Adam Courchaine's selection as the Reebok Goaltender of the Month for February.

Goldie, 31, scored 26 points (14g, 12a) and was a +16 in 15 games during March, helping lead the Aces to a 13-2-0 record for the month as the squad captured the ECHL regular-season championship. Goldie scored at least one point in all 15 games during the month, on his way to ending the regular season on an ECHL season-high 18-game scoring streak (16g, 13a). He matched his season best with four points (2g, 2a) in a 6-1 win over Victoria on March 11 and had three points (2g, 1a) in a 5-3 victory against the Salmon Kings on March 9. Goldie had six additional games in the month where he notched two points.

Goldie, who named to the All-ECHL First-Team last week, led the ECHL with 46 goals in the regular season, becoming the first player in league history to score at least 40 goals in five consecutive seasons. He ended the season second in the league with 83 points and was fourth in plus-minus at +25.

A native of London, Ontario, Goldie has 544 points (335g, 209a) in 627 regular season games with Pee Dee, Victoria, and Alaska. He ranks second in league history in games played and goals and is 17th in points. Goldie has 56 points (32g-24a) in 61 Kelly Cup Playoffs games.

The Aces 2011 Kelly Cup Post-Season begins on Friday, April 15th in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
