K-Wings punch playoff ticket with shootout loss to Walleye

Kalamazoo, MI - Saturday night was bitter-sweet for the Kalamazoo Wings. Playing in front of a crowd of 5,413, their fourth sellout of the season and their third in the last month and a half, the K-Wings clinched a playoff berth in a 2-1 in a shootout loss to the Toledo Walleye.

After a scoreless opening period, Kalamazoo jumped out quickly in the middle frame with a tally from Nick Sirota (11th) 1:57 into the stanza. Matt Caria, who assisted on the goal, increased his home point streak to an ECHL season-long 19 games.

Evening the game at 1-1 to force overtime was Toledo's Brett Perlini (9th), who scored on a third chance opportunity 12:12 into the third period.

Settling their differences in the shootout, the Walleye outlasted the K-Wings 2-1 in the extra session with Jimmy McDowell earning the game-winner.

Joel Martin made 37 saves in the shootout loss, while Hannu Toivonen stopped 25 shots to secure the win.

Kalamazoo begins a season-long six-game road swing tomorrow, Sunday, March 30th with a 5:15 p.m. encounter at the Huntington Center against Toledo.

The K-Wings will return home to Wings Stadium to close out the regular season on Saturday, April 12th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Evansville IceMen on Fan Appreciation Night featuring the post-game player's award ceremony.

Tickets for all regular season and playoff K-Wings home games are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Individual regular season ticket prices for home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 12 and under. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance. Tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).

K-Wings Pepsi playoff tickets are also available. Thanks to Pepsi, the first 2,500 fans that purchase tickets specifically for game one of round one will enjoy a special $4 ticket price. These special $4 tickets for game one are part of the team's 2013-14 season long 40th Anniversary celebration and reflect ticket prices from the K-Wings Inaugural 1974-75 season.

Regular pricing for all other K-Wings Pepsi Playoff games are $17 and $20 for adults and only $8 for children 12 and under. Also, courtesy of Pepsi, the team is offering special $10 tickets for groups of 15 or more throughout the playoffs.
