Preview: Star Wars, Cure Childhood Cancer, $5 Fan Gear Frenzy Night

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators (26-36-3-2) will take on the Greenville Road Warriors (37-22-2-3) for the second straight night, after Greenville held on to win 4-3 the night before. Trailing 2-0 entering the third, Gwinnett tacked on three goals, but allowed two, both of which came in a frenzied two minute stretch where both sides alternated scoring four times.

The Gladiators will also be hosting their annual Star Wars night, featuring several beloved Star Wars characters live in person; their third and final $5 Fan Gear Frenzy of the season, with beach towels being featured; and it will also be the inaugural CURE Childhood Cancer Night, hosted by 2014 Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Glavine, with a portion of proceeds going towards the CURE Foundation. Fans can also bring in canned food items to help support the Georgia United "Can Hunger" Food Drive.

Glads Notes:

Georgia's On His Mind: In his nine games played with Gwinnett, Alpharetta native Will MacDonald has three goals and four assists. He is currently in his rookie season as a professional after attending Princeton University.

Southern Comfort: In his last five games, alternate captain Dirk Southern has two goals and four assists, including back-to-back games with a goal and an assist.

The Guggenburglar Strikes Again: As the Gladiators' 12th goaltender of the season, Mark Guggenberger has provided some much needed stability in net for Gwinnett. Since joining the team, Guggenberger has a 7-4 record, a .916 save percentage, and a 2.74 GAA. As a professional, he has a record of 67-33-9.

Streaking Glads: Coyotes prospect Brendan Walker has at least a goal in five of his last six games, with six goals, an assist, and a +7 rating over that stretch ... Marshall Everson has two goals and an assist in his last three games, helping to bump him up to the team lead in goals, with 19 ... Defenseman Daniel Spivak has finished a game with a minus in only 13 of his 62 games played this season, and hasn't gone below a minus-one. He leads Gwinnett with a +15 on the season. He has also had a point in three of his last four games.

Milestones: With an assist Sunday in Toledo, Mike Merrifield picked up the 50th point of his pro career ... Brenden Walker played in his 50th game as a pro Sunday in Toledo ... Marshall Everson had his 50th professional match last night in Greenville.

Snippets: After going 10-18-0-2 in 2013, the Gladiators have been hovering around .500 in 2014, going 16-18-3-0 since January 2nd ... Stretching back to March 7th, the Gladiators were 0-for-33 on the power play, with nine straight games without a power play goal. That streak was snapped Friday in Greenville with a 6-on-4 power play strike with :29 seconds left in the game.
