TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (41-17-3-4) will host the Stockton Thunder (29-28-0-6) in their third-to-last meeting with this division rival. The Thunder and Condors have been fighting for the second place spot in the Pacific with Stockton ahead by just two point as of tonight. Stockton has been a strong opponent for Ontario with the Reign having a slight edge with a 7-5-0-0 record. Two of those game resulted in a shootout decision which favored the Reign 3-2 both times. Ontario has lost their last two games against Stockton but are riding a current eight-game point streak (6-0-1-1) and look to keep that momentum going as the regular season draws to a close with just six games left.
COMING INTO TONIGHT:
The Reign are riding their point streak and have 16 points in their past 10 games (7-1-1-1), the Thunder has cooled down considerably with just three points earned in their past 10 games coming into tonight with a record of 2-7-0-1 and three losses in a row.
LEADER WATCH:
For the Reign, their top players against the Thunder are no longer on the team's active roster due to trades, call-ups, or injury, but the team's Captain, Derek Couture, leads the pack with six points (4g, 2a) against the Thunder. Team point leaders Matt Register and Matt White also have six points against the Thunder this season. On the bench, Stockton Captain, Garet Hunt, leads his crew with 10 points (5g, 5a) against the Reign.
YABLONSKI VS HUNT:
Now that the Reign have brought in Jeremy Yablonski to play the role of enforcer, the question comes up, will Stockton's 5-foot-9 instigator, Garet Hunt, give him a go and try to drop the gloves with the MMA-experienced fighter? This season Hunt has 160 penalty minutes in 61 games, Yablonski has 44 penalty minutes in just 12 games.
WHAT ARE THEY WEARING?
Tonight the Reign are wearing a slightly different shade of blue as they don a specialty jersey for the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley. Following the game, the Reign will auction off these jerseys to benefit the local Humane Society.
