BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (41-17-3-4), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, kept on the Bakersfield Condors (30-29-2-4) and pulled out a 3-2 shootout win at Rabobank Arena on Friday night.

Gary Steffes, who leads the Condors in scoring against the Reign, was the first to score with a poke past Mathias Niederberger at 11:18. The Reign evened the score when John Ryder netted his first goal as a Reign skater with a long point shot from the right boards. The defenseman had some help from Rocco Carzo and Lane Scheidl who is the newest member of the Reign.

Steffes found the back of the Reign net again when he backhanded the rebound off Ryan Little's original shot at 11:24 in the second period. The goal put the Condors ahead 2-1.

With just 4:50 remaining in regulation, Matt White and Derek Couture charged into the Condors end while playing shorthanded. White fed it across to Couture who crashed the net and pushed it past Chet Pickard. The score remained knotted 2-2 through regulation and a five-minute overtime frame.

In a five round shootout, only one goal was scored by the Reign's second shooter, Gasper Kopitar. The rookie forward skated in with speed and ripped a shot past the glove of Pickard.

Niederberger earned the win in his first game back with the team since Jan. 15 with 13 saves; Pickard suffered the loss stopping 32 shots.
