Eagles Fall in the Final Second to the Grizzlies 2-1

LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (31-23-7-4) were stunned by a last-second, 2-1 loss to the Utah Grizzlies (35-22-3-5) on Saturday evening at the Budweiser Events Center.

After the Eagles and the Grizzlies saw two scoreless periods; Eagles newcomer forward Todd Fiddler netted his first professional goal to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead, 10:06 into the third period. The Grizzlies answered just over one minute later with a short-handed goal from forward Adam Pineault on a two-on-one breakaway to beat Eagles netminder Dustin Butler blocker side to tie the game 1-1. At the final buzzer, Grizzlies defenseman Martin Lee buried a power play goal from the point to secure the 2-1 victory for Utah.

Butler took the loss despite turning aside 25 of Utah's 27 shots-on-goal. Utah finished 1-for-4 on the power play while Colorado was held to an 0-for-5 mark on the man advantage.

The Eagles hit the road to Utah to take on the Grizzlies at the Maverik Center on Wednesday night.
