K-Wings 24 Hours Away From Opener

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League are just 24 hours away from dropping the puck for the first time at home this season.

So far this year, the K-Wings are 1-1-0, and hope to improve on that record tonight as they travel to Flint to battle the Generals.

While the K-Wings are focused on their game tonight, their fans are anxiously waiting for tomorrow, as the K-Wings start the home portion of the 2002-2003 season also against Flint.

Game time tomorrow night is set for 7:30 pm, but K-Wing fans will filling the parking lot of Wings Stadium early on Saturday, as they will partake in Kalamazoo Wings Fanfest 2002, which begins at 4 PM.

The fan festival is presented by National Pastime Sports, which is the same group that organized the fanfest for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game this year.

National Pastime Sports will create a hockey theme park in the North Lot of Wings Stadium. The theme park will include interactive exhibits, a free concert, a beer garden, post game player autographs, and a pyrotechnic show before the game.

The interactive exhibits will include hockey trivia, goalie interactive, Zamboni picture area, press box interactive, floor hockey challenge, slap shot interactive, and a hockey clinic area.

All fans that attend the game will receive a K-Wings Pom-Pom attached to a public skating coupon from Wings Stadium. Also, while supplies last fans will receive a 20-ounce bottle of Vanilla Coke courtesy of Coca-Cola.
