Enga Named Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO - It didn't take long for R.J. Enga to get settled in San Diego, as he was named this season's first West Coast Hockey League Player of the Week. Another newcomer, Mike Garrow, earned an honorable mention.
Enga, 30, earned the honors after scoring five points (3g, 2a) in his first two games with the Blue and Orange. On Opening Night, Enga debuted with a pair of goals and an assist. The next night, he contributed with a short-handed goal and another helper. With his five points, Enga now moves into a tie for seventh all-time on the WCHL all-time scoring list. Both he and former Gull Martin St Amour have 392 points.
The All-Star winger signed as a free agent after spending the last four seasons with the now-defunct Colorado Gold Kings. Enga averaged about 97 points per season with the Gold Kings.
Mike Garrow, Enga's former teammate with Colorado, was named as an honorable mention. Garrow netted four points (3g, 1a) over the weekend, which included a first period natural hat trick Sunday against the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
The Gulls embark on its first road trip of the season beginning Sunday in Bakersfield. The Blue and Orange will also play twice in Idaho and once in Long Beach next week before returning home against the Condors Sunday, Oct. 27.
