
Jumbo Shrimp Stifled in 2-1 Loss

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jeff Lindgren worked 4.0 scoreless innings on Wednesday, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp were stifled by the Gwinnett Stripers 2-1 from 121 Financial Ballpark.
Lindgren yielded just one hit through 4.0 innings with three strikeouts before departing. With Jacksonville (68-71, 36-29) ahead 1-0, new reliever Austin Roberts (1-2) walked Yolmer Sánchez to begin the fifth. Joe Hudson's double plated Sánchez to tie the game. After a pair of outs, Andrew Velazquez's RBI single put Gwinnett (65-73, 32-31) up 2-1.
The Jumbo Shrimp mustered only three hits from the fourth inning-on. Stripers reliever Dereeck Rodriguez (3-4) earned the win with 3.0 scoreless innings, and Grant Holmes pitched a scoreless ninth for his 13th save.
In a scoreless third inning, Jake Mangum walked and stole second with two outs. He scored on a base hit by Jacob Amaya to put Jacksonville ahead initially.
Jacksonville hosts Gwinnett in Thursday's 7:05 p.m. contest. LHP Devin Smeltzer (5-8, 6.36 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Stripers RHP Alan Rangel (0-0, 0.00 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on Bally Live, MiLB.tv, ESPN690 and www.ESPN690.com.
On a Coors Light Thirsty Thursday, fans can purchase $2 16-oz. drafts and $3 24-oz. drafts on the left field berm, Oasis concession stand and the right field bleachers. On Military Appreciation Night, Swisher will provide free tickets to all active, retired, veterans and former military members and their dependents. Complementary ticket may be received in person at the Miller Electric Box Office in advance or the day of the game, subject to availability. The first 2,000 fans through the gates Thursday will receive a Jumbo Shrimp military hat presented by Swisher.
