Bats Fall 4-0 in Durham

DURHAM, NC -- Randy Wynne strikes out five as the Louisville Bats (70-68) are shutout 4-0 by the Durham Bulls (82-58) on Wednesday night.

The Bulls took an early lead, plating a run in each of the first two innings behind three hits, including a home run, to take a 2-0 lead through two.

Louisville's first chance to score came in the top of the fourth when Jason Vosler drew a one out walk then advanced to second after Henry Ramos was hit by a pitch. Jhonny Pereda would later draw a two-out walk to load the bases for Jose Barrero, but the Bats were ultimately unable to bring a run home.

Durham scratched two more runs across in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 4-0.

The Bats would put a runner in scoring position once again in the top of the fifth after Nick Northcut walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch, but were once again unable to crack the scoreboard.

Randy Wynne (3-4, 6.37) covered the bulk of relief work for the Bats, tossing 4.0 solid innings, giving up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

The series resumes on Thursday, September 14 Durham Bulls athletic with first pitch set for 6:35 pm E.T. Right-hander Brett Kennedy (4-3, 4.30) will take the mound for the Bats while lefty Jacob Lopez (4-4, 2.77) gets the ball for the Bulls.
