Last time out...
The Lake Erie Crushers (28-25) hit three home runs on their way to a 16-4 defeat of the Florence Freedom (22-29) Saturday night. The Freedom lost by a season-high 12 runs while surrendering a season-high 16 runs. The Freedom were within two runs as late as the bottom of the fifth inning after Caleb Bryson went yard for his first professional long ball in the top of the fifth. But Adam Ford responded with his first pro home run to make it 7-3 Crushers. The 7-3 Lake Erie lead turned into an 11-3 advantage after they plated four runs in the sixth inning. A bases clearing double from Vincent Mejia was the big blow in the inning. Five more runs crossed the plate in the eight for the Crushers as Ford ripped a bases clearing double and Joey Burney launched a two-run home run. Florence tallied a run in the ninth but it was too little too late. Dave Middendorf (3-5) took the loss for the Freedom.
For Starters...
Peter Gehle is making his 11 th start of the season today and his first against the Crushers. The left-hander is coming off to a loss to the Washington Wild Things on July 12 where he only lasted four and two thirds innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out four along the way in a 5-4 defeat for the Freedom. The Freedom have a record of 6-4 when Gehle starts. Gehle, 26, is a former 27th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2010 out of Azusa Pacific University. The Flagstaff, Arizona native spent two years in the White Sox organization before joining Sioux Falls of the American Association in 2012. He spent 2013 in the AA as well, this time with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
No relief...
The bullpen surrendered 11 runs yesterday. Those 11 runs match the total number of runs they gave up in the month of May.
Opposite results...

Rubber match...
Today is the rubber match of the series between the Freedom and Crushers. Florence is 3-5 in rubber matches this season. If the Freedom win today it will be their first road series victory of the season and their seventh series win overall. Right now Florence is 0-7 in road series with a road mark of 6-16.
During the Day...
Florence has a 1-4 mark in day games so far this season.
A rare type of win...
