Otters Look to End Series vs. Miners with a Win

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (30-21) complete a nine-game homestand on Sunday night when they host the Southern Illinois Miners (31-22).

First pitch is set for 5:05 pm CDT at historic Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana.

Fans wishing to purchase tickets for the game can call the Otters box office at 812-435-8686. Reserve seats are $9 and general admission tickets are $6.

Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning at 4:45 pm CDT.

It is Otters Selfie Sunday! Fans are encouraged to take selfies at the ballpark and tweet them to @Evilleotters.

Evansville will have LHP Zach Fowler (1-1, 3.38 ERA) on the mound on Sunday. Southern Illinois has yet to announce their probable.

The Miners won the series opener 3-0 on Friday and were also victorious 5-4 in 11 innings on Saturday. Otters starter Preston Olson struck out a season-best 12 hitters in the game. Evansville outfielder John Schultz set the franchise record for triples (11) with a game-tying three-bagger in the eighth. Infielders Shayne Houck and Phillip Wilson both totaled three hits each on Saturday.

Evansville is 41-48 all-time against the Southern lllinois. The Miners won two of three games against the Otters earlier this season at Rent One Park (June 20-22). This is the six and final meeting between the two teams this season. Southern Illinois leads the season matchup 4-1.

Evansville outfielder Chris Sweeney was named Frontier League Player of the Week on Monday. The Mountain Top, Pennsylvania native was 11-for-22 during the stretch of games from July 7 - 14. During that timeframe, Sweeney raised his batting average from .291 to a team best .328. Sweeney also hit three of his seven home runs in the past week.

The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on Wednesday. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.

Houck enters today's action on a six-game hitting streak.

The Otters are 18-12 at home and 4-4 on the current homestand.
