TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - Gateway starting pitcher Tucker Jensen fired eight marvelous innings and the Grizzlies picked up their first shutout road win of the season in a 7-0 victory against the Traverse City Beach Bums Sunday at Wuerfel Park.

The shutout win was the fifth of the season for the Grizzlies (36-19). They also completed their fifth series sweep of the season and second on the road to remain two games ahead of River City in the West Division.

Jensen (6-2), a 24-year-old right-hander, scattered three hits, walked only one and struck out six while notching his first win since June 25th.

Tommy Richards brought in two runs on a single and Landon Hernandez smashed a two-run home run during a four-run third inning to give Jensen all the offense he would need.

Gateway added three more runs of insurance in the seventh inning on a Hernandez RBI single and an Xavier Macklin two-run single to make the score 7-0.

Hernandez finished 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and Richards went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs.

Gateway outscored Traverse City 30-7 during the three games over the weekend.
