Frederick Keys News Release

Four home runs allowed and three runners to the plate with pitches to the backstop were just to much to overcome for Frederick on Friday Night as they were defeated 11-7 by Lynchburg in front of 4,833 at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys fell behind 7-1 in the fifth inning but rallied behind the bats of CF Kennard Jones and newcomer Brent Krause.

Jones went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI's. He was just a home run shy of the cycle but singled in his final at-bat.

The Orioles newest signee in Brent Krause from the St. Paul Saints of the American Association paid immediate dividends. He hit two doubles and drove home two runs in his Carolina League debut.

The Keys though were swamped by four Hillcats home runs and mistakes with two outs and runners on third base.

Hillcats Tripper Johnson (who spent three seasons in Frederick) and Jamie Romak each hit two home runs. Frederick would unleash two wild pitches and Lynchburg would benefit from a passed ball that allowed three runs to score from third base over the course of the evening.

The Keys will have a major league rehab start from RHP Steve Trachsel Saturday Night at 6:30 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium in the series finale against Lynchburg. Fireworks will follow the ballgame.
