Tribe Talk...
Lucky Number 13 - Kinston is 3-1 on games played on the 13th this season. This is the second time they've played on Friday the 13th this year. On Friday, April 13th of this season, they beat Winston-Salem by the score of 3-2. In fact Friday the 13th has been rather lucky for the Tribe as of late. There were no Friday the 13th games last season but on Friday, May 13th 2005 the K-Tribe triumphed over the Frederick Keys 5-2. On Friday, August 13th 2004 the K-Tribe beat Lynchburg 6-2. That's right, Kinston is 3-0 over the last three Friday the 13th games and has limited their opponents to just two runs in each of those games (cue spooky music and sinister voice saying "Moo-hoo-ha-ha"). On an equally spooky note, the K-Tribe is 8-7 on Friday this season, their worst record of any day of the week in 2007.
Nasty Nate - Hitting just .200 in the middle of May, Nate Panther has turned it around with his batting average now up to .303. His on base percentage (.433) and slugging percentage (.993) are both leading the K-Tribe team, but his 175 at bats keep him from registering in the league leaders. He has at least one hit in 26 of his last 29 games.
One Run Wonder - Kinston was limited to just one run for the first time in the second half of the season yesterday. Kinston has been shut-out just four times this season. One was on the last day of the first half at Myrtle Beach. The other three times came in an eight game span May 5th through the 10th.
