Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Johnstown Chiefs ran their winning streak to three games with a 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday night. A pair of goals sixteen seconds apart early in the first period by the Chiefs created a deficit the Cyclones could not overcome.
Johnstown raced out to a 2-0 lead early in the first period, as All-Star forward Maxime Boisclair collected his 12th goal of the season on the power play at 2:54. At 3:10, Eric Przepiorka netted his sixth goal of the season to give the Chiefs that two goal edge. Greg Stewart got the Cyclones on the board at 7:04 with his sixth tally of the campaign. Chad Starling and Mathieu Aubin added the assists on the score and at the end of the first period, Johnstown led, 2-1.
In the second period, the Chiefs extended their lead to 3-1, when Brandon Elliott netted his tenth goal of the season. Shots on goal favored Johnstown in the middle frame, 11-6.
Johnstown closed the scoring when Randy Rowe picked up his 13th goal at 7:56 of the final frame, to make the score 4-1.
Cyclones goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris made 16 saves in absorbing the loss. Morgan Cey picked up the win, stopping 23 shots in the triumph.
The defeat ended the Cyclones four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) and was the first by Johnstown over the Cyclones since March 20, 2003.
